Two Children’s Hospitals Setting up Shop in Prosper, TX

Pediatric healthcare systems in both Dallas and Forth Worth are preparing to plant their stakes in Prosper, a growing North Texas city approximately 40 miles north of Dallas.

Dallas-based Children’s Health announced it acquired 72 acres at the Dallas North Tollway and U.S. 380 to develop a medical campus and hospital. The acreage will be part of Matthews Southwest’s 177-acre, mixed-use development in Prosper. Children’s Health is planning to hire a developer to partner on the project, which is being designed by HKS.

Meanwhile, Cook Children’s Health Care System is planning a hospital on its north campus, a 23-acre site at Windsong Parkway and U.S. 380. The organization is already building a first-phase pharmacy and an urgent care services center on the property. The facilities are set to open in fall 2019, while outpatient surgery and specialty centers are scheduled for an early 2020 opening.
