Twin Cities Hotels Have Super Weekend
The Philadelphia Eagles may have won on the football field, but Twin Cities hotels won big in the money sweepstakes during Super Bowl week.
A recent report found that revenue per available Minneapolis-St. Paul room increased 626% from the first weekend in February last year. Occupancy from Feb. 2-4 was 92.5%, and the annual daily rate was $354.41.
“The combination of lower hotel supply and a typically slow time of year for the market resulted in extraordinary performance gains for Minneapolis,” Hannah Smith, a consultant with hotel tracker STR, told the Star-Tribune.
STR produced the report from more than 42,000 Twin Cities hotel rooms.
The 626% increase was second this decade behind Indianapolis’ 1,082% increase in 2012. Houston, which hosted the Super Bowl last year, saw hotel revenue increase 356%.
