Turner Construction Tapped for $250M Navistar Factory in San Antonio
Navistar International Corp. selected Turner Construction to build its $250-million automotive factory project on San Antonio’s South Side, the San Antonio Business Journal reported.
Spanning nearly one million square feet, the new campus will include a new truck manufacturing facility, as well as several other major structures to support vehicle production.
The Business Journal reported that New York City-based Turner held a virtual information session for potential partners on Thursday. Documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicate that Michigan-based design firm Ghafari Associates is involved on the project as well.
Connect Media reported in June that the new Navistar facility, which is slated to come on line in 2022, is a key component of the company’s “Navistar 4.0” growth strategy. The location of the San Antonio plant allows for significant logistics improvements and a consolidation of the company’s supply base, according to Navistar.
