Turner-Agassi Opens New Home for Bronx Charter School

Tennis champion Andre Agassi and Turner Impact Capital CEO Bobby Turner joined local dignitaries at the grand opening of Grand Concourse Academy’s new home in the Soundview section of the Bronx. The 50,000-square-foot campus was developed by the Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund, and represents the first permanent home for GCA, which has operated since 2004.

“This landmark new campus will enable Grand Concourse Academy to extend its commendable track record of serving Bronx students and families, empowering them to succeed in the classroom and beyond,” said Turner.

Turner-Agassi takes the lead in site selection, acquisition, design and construction for new school facilities, which are then leased back to school operators, who can purchase them once they reach full occupancy. The fund, which has developed 95 charter schools nationwide, helps operators obtain permanent financing using New Market Tax Credits and other sources.
