TSA Relocating to Virginia Site in $316M HQ Deal for 625K-SF
An affiliate of Boston Properties was awarded a $316-million contract from the General Services Administration to build a new HQ facility for the Transportation Security Administration in Springfield, VA. The 15-year deal is for up to 625,000 square feet of leased space at a 10-acre site on Springfield Center Drive where the agency will consolidate four locations.
The TSA will relocate from space at 601 to 701 S. 12th St. in Arlington’s Pentagon City. The new space is expected to be ready for occupancy by mid-2020, and is located near the Franconia-Springfield Metro station.
JLL’s Jae Lee and William Ruppe represented the government, and Cushman & Wakefield’s Darian Leblanc represented the landlord.
The award of the lease to Boston Properties came after a judge in 2015 voided the federal government’s lease at another property, Victory Circle in Alexandria.
