Trump’s First 100 Days on Texas Delegation: Exhausting, Exasperating, Enthralling
The first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s administration have passed. In its wake is a Texas congressional delegation that is, in the words of the Texas Tribune, exhausted, exasperated and enthralled. The issues the delegation has faced since Trump took office range from Russian interference in the presidential election, to Muslim bans, to a proposed shakeup of the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Though the president has backed off his threats to dismantle NAFTA (which touched a nerve among the Texas contingent), other frustrations have arisen. For example, U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington, a Republican from Lubbock, TX, was frustrated when the GOP health care overhaul fell apart. Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Vincente Gonzalez, a Democrat from McAllen, indicated: “It feels like a crazy time . . . I hope this isn’t the normal.”
