Trump Place Residents to Brand: No Thanks

Though President-Elect Donald Trump might have won the hearts and minds of voters in the heartland, residents at the Trump Place apartment complex on Manhattan’s Upper West Side want no part of the Trump brand. In response, Equity Residential, which owns the three buildings at 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Blvd., will rename the assets after their street addresses.

Close to 600 residents signed an online petition urging the Chicago-headquartered landlord to get rid of the Trump Place name, which is in gold letters on the apartment buildings. Though an Equity Residential spokeswoman indicated that the company did have a “contractual obligation” pertaining to use of the name, the landlord is “taking into consideration the issues raised by the residents in their position,” according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
