Tropicana Implosion Scheduled, A’s Stadium on Way
Tropicana owner Bally’s Corp. says the gutted Tropicana hotel towers will be imploded in October. Nine acres of the 36-acre site will be used for the future home of the Las Vegas A’s — Major League Baseball’s Oakland franchise has secured league approval to move to Las Vegas. The team expects to move into a brand new $1.5 billion stadium at the site in 2028. The work should allow the A’s to begin their stadium development next year ahead of their relocation to Las Vegas for the 2028 Major League Baseball season.
The company is still evaluating development options for the remainder of the 27 acres. Bally’s is weighing options that include retail and possibly a new resort on the remaining property adjacent to the stadium.
The 67-year old hotel has two 22-story towers that will come down during the implosion.
