Tribune’s Cubed Tower, DTLA’s Next Transit-Oriented Dev?
A 30-story, stacked, cube structure is envisioned to rise on a land parcel in DTLA, owned by Tribune Media Co. The site is adjacent to Times Mirror Square on Second St., which was acquired by Vancouver, Canada-based Onni Group earlier this fall for $105 million.
The proposed mixed-use project was designed by Gensler. Plans for 222 West 2nd Street include more than 530,000 square feet of office space, 107 condos, and roughly 7,200 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
The project would replace a surface parking lot, while retaining a five-story parking structure. The site sits on top of a light rail station at Broadway and Second St., making it ideal to incorporate transit-oriented components into the design.
