Travis County Commissioners Vote to Hire Drainage Consultant
Based on a federal publication dubbed Atlas 14, Travis County Commissioners voted unanimously to hire a drainage consultant for changes made to the Central Texas county’s 100-year flood plan. The move will help the county avoid a lengthier and more costly Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approval process for changes to the plan.
The updated standards mean that an estimated 10-15 projects in the county’s 2017-22 bond program will be under review by the consultant. With the cost at $5,000-$7,000 per review, the estimated consultant cost would be a maximum of $105,000, which could be absorbed within the existing budget.
The vote means the county can begin the procurement process to hire the consultant.
