Travis County Commissioners Call for $185M Bond Election
Travis County commissioners have called a $185 million bond election, to take place on Nov. 7, 2017. At stake with this election are road safety and park projects. According to the commissioners, most of the projects will take place east of Interstate 35, among areas that are mainly unincorporated into the Austin and other city limits.
The Travis County Citizens Bond Advisory Committee focused on those unincorporated areas, and reduced a project list originally estimated at $1.1 billion down to $144 million. The committee felt that Precinct 4, in the southeast part of the county, has been historically underserved when it comes to infrastructure development.
