Every year, Travel + Leisure asks readers to share their opinions on the top hotels in cities around the world, including Seattle. The publication bases its ratings on facilities, location, service, food and overall value, and this year, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel on University Street ranked #1.

Travel + Leisure says the Fairmont Olympic, located in a historic 1924 building on the former site of the University of Washington, “carries the class of a bygone era, but is decked out with the style of today.” The 450-room hotel’s convenient location in the central business district also scored points.

Rounding out the top 5 in the Emerald City is the Thompson Seattle, located near Pike Place, at #2, The Edgewater, featuring a rock-and-roll attitude with record players for in-room use at #3. Coming in 4th, the W Seattle with a “downtown allure and endless entertainment”, and finally the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle and its prime location near the Seattle Art Museum.
