Transwestern Negotiates DC Office Lease at Downtown Redevelopment
Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) has completed a 16,112-square-foot lease at 1401 Massachusetts Avenue NW, a new 52,000-square-foot trophy office building on Washington’s Thomas Circle with Share Our Strength, a nonprofit hunger relief organization.
The Transwestern Tenant Advisory + Workplace Solutions team of Michael Goldman and Brian Pashkoff represented Share Our Strength. Transwestern’s Agency Leasing team of Scott Fetterolf and Tom Hilley represented the property owner, Akelius, in the transaction.
Completed by Akelius in 2024, 1401 Mass is the five-story restoration and conversion of a 1950s former annex behind National City Christian Church. The strategic redevelopment preserved the building’s historic exterior and added two floors to incorporate collaboration-focused amenities.
“1401 Mass offers the kind of placemaking experience today’s tenants expect: exceptional accessibility, intentional design and thoughtful amenities,” said Fetterolf. “We are pleased to partner with ownership to accelerate leasing momentum with a recognized, national anchor tenant.”
