Transportation Authority Issues $1.5B Gold Line Extension RFQ
The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a design-build team to construct a $1.5 billion extension on the Foothill Gold Line light rail. The 12.3-mile section is envisioned to include six stations, with work slated to commence in 2020 and conclude in 2026.
Stations are planned in Los Angeles County cities of Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair. The extension is being built along the former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) right-of-way, which Metro purchased in the early 1990s.
The two-step, competitive process includes qualifications of key employees, a staffing plan, proof of financial and legal fitness and a list of possible subcontractors, as well as evidence of similar project completions. Requests are due in January 2018. Teams short-listed through the RFQ process will receive the Request for Proposals (RFP), to be released in Spring 2018.
