Transit-Oriented MXU Development on Placentia’s Horizon
The Packing House District in Placentia, CA is moving towards becoming a transit-oriented district, now that the city has revised zoning to allow mixed-use development. Developers are interested in revitalizing properties within the 28-acre area near the Metrolink station coming in 2020.
Vacant lots and old industrial buildings along Crowther Avenue could undergo a significant transformation. The city envisions a pedestrian-friendly streetscape, with an inviting sense of Orange County charm.
An economic report by the city found the Packing House District could generate $1.5 million in annual revenue, as well as $15 million in revenue during the development phase.
A partnership between Newport Beach, CA-based Integral Communities and Lyon Living submitted plans for a five-story, 215-unit apartment project on 2.95 acres. The historic Packing House, at Crowther Avenue and Melrose Street, is also being eyed for redevelopment as a dining and entertainment destination.
