Transit-Oriented Developments for Westchester
Mixed-use towers will rise near the train stations in Westchester County’s New Rochelle, Yonkers and White Plains, NY. Plans mix luxury rental apartments with ground-floor retail and office spaces that keep the sidewalks busy and draw people downtown.
The trend is expected to continue in 2017.
In December, workers broke ground on the $190 million Larkin Plaza development in Yonkers, which will include 439 apartments and 35,000 square feet of shops and restaurants near the Yonkers train station, overlooking Van Der Donck Park and the daylighted Saw Mill River. Construction will continue throughout the year.
In New Rochelle, a 10-year plan aims to build 6,400 housing units, 1 million square feet of retail space and 2.4 million square feet of office space, along with restaurants and hotel rooms.
In White Plains, city officials are exploring plans for a Transit District that would include residential and commercial developments.
