The LA Planning Commission approved The Reef, PHR LA Mart LLC’s proposed mixed-use project that includes more than one-million square feet of new space and more than 1,000 apartments and condos. Plans also include a 208-room hotel, more than 100,00 square feet of retail and restaurant space, as well as outdoor plazas, a farmers’ market and public gardens.
The West Block portion of the nearly 10-acre site is slated to be built first. The existing 861,162-square-foot, 12-story Reef building remains as a “creative habitat” of the West Block. A public paseo connects ground-floor retail, restaurants, and a gallery.
Two residential towers, one 35 stories and the other 32 stories, are planned for the East Block. It includes a landscaped paseo through the site, with a public terrace featuring a cafe and outdoor seating.
