Transbay Tower Designs Revealed

San Francisco-based Pacific Eagle and SKS Partners proposed a 36-story, mixed-use residential and hotel tower in San Francisco’s Transbay district, at 555 Howard St. Designs by architects Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Mark Cavagnero Associates are under review by the city’s planning department. If the plans are approved, construction could start by 2018.

A 255-room Langham Place hotel, as well as 69 residential units, are planned on one of the last unbuilt Transbay sites. The LEED Platinum-targeted project will include a ballroom, gym, ground-floor restaurant and public cafe.

Unique features of the development will include two public spaces, one of which will be a tree-shaded rooftop-open terrace that is 385 feet above ground level, and framed by 20-foot-high walls of glass. The second will be a skybar/café on the top floor.

Pacific Eagle acquired the 555 Howard St. site in 2015 for $45.6 million. The parent company of Pacific Eagle is Hong Kong-based Great Eagle.
