“Traditional Japanese Comfort Food” Sets up Shop in Soho
Japanese restaurant Raku will open its second location at 48 Macdougal St. in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.
“Raku specializes in gourmet Udon Noodles and traditional Japanese comfort food,” said Joe Robinson, senior director for Eastern Consolidated, which arranged the SoHo lease for Raku. The landlord was represented by David Graff of Compass. “It has been very successful in its East Village location,” Robinson added.
Master Chef Norihiro “Miyake” Ishizuka and restaurateur Huey Cheng, currently operate the original Raku restaurant at 342 E. Sixth St,. and a separate sushi bar called Kura, in the East Village.
The 1,200-square-foot SoHo space was perfect because it previously housed a restaurant and offered an ideal turnkey opportunity, Robinson said.
