Toyota HQ Campus in Torrance Under Contract
Irvine, CA-based Sares-Regis Group is reportedly buying Toyota’s vast north Torrance, CA campus, which has largely been vacated this year as the automotive manufacturer relocated its HQ to Texas. The 110-acre site is spread across 16 parcels, and includes roughly two million square feet of office and industrial space.
Torrance officials alluded to the pending sale at a recent State of the City address. The deal is expected to close in roughly 30 days.
One potential user envisioned for the site is a new second headquarters for Amazon, though issues facing the online retailer in Seattle are also challenges at the Torrance site. Those include traffic congestion and a lack of affordable housing.
Sares-Regis has experience with similar large-scale redevelopment projects. It acquired Boeing and Douglas Aircraft’s former facilities in Long Beach, which is taking shape as Douglas Park, a 238-acre business park.
