Toyota Awards $1.7M Grant to SISD

The Toyota USA Foundation issued a $1.7-million grant to Southwest Independent School District, to assist in funding the district’s manufacturing workforce development program.

Southwest ISD’s latest facility, Southwest Legacy High School, is projected to open in August 2017 in the San Antonio suburb of Van Ormy. The school, which marks the district’s second Center for Applied Science and Technology location, plans to use a portion of the grant money to create robot-equipped learning spaces.

Additionally, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. will give the district manufacturing robots and several automated guided vehicles.
