Tourist Attractions Coming to Rivercenter

Ashkenazy Acquisitions Corp. partnered with Merlin Entertainments to bring Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland Discovery Center to 565,000-square-foot Shops at Rivercenter on Commerce Street in downtown San Antonio. Shopping center owner Ashkenazy Acquisition is allotting approximately 65,000 square feet of space for the two attractions, which are expected to open in 2018.

Sea Life, which has more than 50 venues worldwide, presents a collection of diverse marine life. The San Antonio aquarium will have a tropical ocean tank and a walk-through, underwater tunnel. Meanwhile, the Legoland Discovery Center will offer play areas, workshops and theater.

Merlin Entertainments’ John Jakobsen told the San Antonio Business Journal that the Shops at Rivercenter’s proximity to the San Antonio River and Alamo was a factor in the company’s decision to expand there.
