Touchstone, Portman Plan Multi-Tower Development in Seattle’s U District
Seattle-based Touchstone and Atlanta-based Portman Holdings unveiled details surrounding a new two-building commercial project in Seattle’s University District. The Chapter Buildings mixed-use development will encompass nearly 400,000 square feet of office space and about 13,000 square feet of retail.
University District Parking Associates, Inc. selected the developers to transform parking lots it owns in 2019. The Chapter Buildings will be the first opportunity for major employers to locate adjacent to the University of Washington in world-class office space.
Chapter Buildings’ Building I at 4530 12th Ave NE will rise 12 stories and feature 240,000 square feet of commercial office space, and 8,800 square feet of ground-floor retail. Building II at 4536 Brooklyn Ave NE will be ten stories and include 156,000 square feet of office space, as well as 4,000 square feet of retail space. The project features an 8,000-square-foot mid-block pedestrian connection and public open space called the Brooklyn Cut.
Construction on the Chapter Buildings and Brooklyn Cut is anticipated to begin in 2021, with an estimated delivery date in 2023. Colliers International’s Greg Inglin, David Abbott and Laura Ford are handling the leasing assignment.
