Toshiba Takes Over Broadcom’s Space
Toshiba America Inc. signed a 96,000-square-foot lease at Irvine Company’s University Research Park (URP) in Irvine, CA. The subsidiary of Tokyo-based Toshiba Corp. plans to move its electronics components, information systems and logistics companies to the 2.2-million-square-foot campus in 2018, when current tenant Broadcom moves out.
JLL’s Louis Tomaselli and Steve Wagner represented the tenant. The landlord was self-represented.
The 185-acre, 99%-leased campus located next to UC Irvine is undergoing a renovation that will focus on lobbies and common areas. The Commons, a signature, open-air, collaborative amenity will be added, featuring WiFi-enabled outdoor living-rooms, decks, dining, music, fire pits and activities such as ping pong, basketball and volleyball.
Proximity to a top-tier research university in a tech-focused submarket is expected to continue enhancing Toshiba’s recruitment and retention efforts. The space at 5231 California Ave. and 5241 California Ave. will also help foster deeper connections with UCI’s “innovation hub.”
