Topgolf Selects Birmingham for AL Debut

Topgolf is targeting Birmingham, AL for its first location in the Yellowhammer State. To that end, the sports entertainment company will begin construction on a 65,000-square-foot venue in early 2017, with the opening planned for later in the year.

The site will be situated on 10 acres along 12th Avenue near Carraway Boulevard, which Topgolf leased from the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Authority. The venue will be on the BJCC campus, which includes the state’s largest indoor event space, several hotels and the Uptown Entertainment District.

According to Topgolf’s Devin Charhon, Birmingham had been on the company’s radar for a while, especially given the recent development in the metro’s downtown, as well as the growing Uptown Entertainment District.
