Top Broker Honoree: John Ryan III
Leasing veteran John Ryan III is a principal at Avison Young, with over 30 years experience in both landlord and tenant representation. In 2018, he completed 21 leases with a combined value of $165,112,875.
Ryan’s deals in 2018 often involved negotiating complicated flexibility rights to allow for tenant expansion options without compromising the long-term cash flow to renew existing tenants.
His most notable transaction last year was Knotel’s 28,000-square-foot lease at 211 E. 43rd St. in Midtown Manhattan.
Along with his Avison Young team, Ryan represented 211 E. 43rd’s ownership, Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Clarion Partners, LLC. This brought the asset to over 95% leased. The Knotel transaction involved both full floors and partial floors, with specific timing for delivery to turnkey the space.
