TOD-Focused Measure G Set for March 3 Vote in Redlands

A local municipal ballot measure, Measure G, is slated for a March 3 vote in Redlands, CA.

A “yes” vote on the initiative will allow for density increases in specific areas surrounding San Bernardino County Transit Authority’s Redlands Passenger Rail Project – ARROW. The planned rail line will use trains utilizing zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell technology to reduce carbon emissions.

The measure focuses on limited transit-oriented development at the three transit village districts surrounding future ARROW stations. It would grant a voter-approved exemption for mixed-use developments seeking to increase building heights in such areas, currently capped at two stories.

The Redlands city council voted 4-1 to put the measure to a citywide vote.

If Measure G passes, the city’s specific plan for new development calls for projects in harmony with Downtown Redlands’ historic commercial core, the University of Redlands, the ESRI campus, and surrounding neighborhoods.
