TMG Partners’ 750K-SF Uptown Oakland Creative Office Green Lit
TMG Partners received unanimous approval from the Oakland Planning Commission on its proposed 750,000-square-foot office development at 2201 Valley in Oakland. Slated to span a full city block in the Uptown District, the project will include roughly 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail and arts spaces.
TMG’s Michael Covarrubias says, “The proposed building’s large open floors, high ceilings, and column-free spaces – made possible by the engineering required to span the BART tunnel that runs beneath the site – form the kind of creative work space ideal to growing companies.”
The transit-oriented mixed-use development is located a block from the 19th Street BART Station, and is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. To accommodate the structural requirements of the BART span, the project was designed with fanned vertical steps to create a visually-distinct look that complements the stepped vertical tower, which is broken up with outdoor terraces and landscaped decks.
