Tishman Speyer Unveils First-Ever Brooklyn Project
April 6, 2017
New York-based Tishman Speyer unveiled plans for the development of The Wheeler, a 10-story, $500 million creative office hub slated to rise above Macy’s historic department store in Downtown Brooklyn. The developer is partnering with China-based HNA Group to create a 620,000 square-foot vertical office campus.
The speculative project will feature Brooklyn’s largest floorplates (90,000 square feet on lower floors and up to 64,000 square feet on uppers), 16-foot ceilings, an acre of outdoor space across a series of garden terraces and roof decks and a dedicated amenity floor. Located at the epicenter of Brooklyn, The Wheeler will offer sweeping views of Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and New York harbor.
The building will be ready for occupancy in mid-2019. The property’s name is inspired by the visionary 19th century Brooklyn developer Andrew Wheeler. HFF arranged construction financing through Bank of the Ozarks.
