Thrive Senior Living Communities to Implement Artificial Intelligence
Thrive Senior Living, headquartered in Atlanta, unveiled its plans to integrate conversational artificial intelligence throughout its properties during 2019. Specifically, the senior housing developer and operator is partnering with Aiva Health to implement voice-controlled AI throughout the communities’ work flow.
Aiva relies on Google Home, Amazon Echo and smart speakers to connect Thrive residents to their caregivers, as well as to give residents the ability to interact with smart devices, request music or to learn the news of the day. The result of a seven-week pilot program with two Thrive Senior properties showed that residents used the voice controls at twice the rate of average users for requests ranging from playing music, to checking social calendars, to requesting caregiver assistance.
“Over the last few years, in-home voice-controlled technology in healthcare has risen in popularity at a rapid pace,” said Sumeet Bhatia with Aiva Health. “Voice assistants don’t just engage seniors in their residences, they also connect them with friends, family and neighbors through hands-free phone and video calls, alleviating loneliness and making life more fun and social.”
