The Durst Organization Opens 163 Affordable Apartments in Astoria

The Durst Organization has opened a 100% affordable housing building in Astoria, Queens, as part of a partnership with the Halletts Point development and public housing.

“New York City is facing a housing crisis. We need to build more homes,” said Douglas Durst, chairman of The Durst Organization, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Located at 3-24 27th Avenue, the building sits adjacent to NYCHA’s Astoria Houses. It features 163 apartments, including units for NYCHA tenants, formerly homeless households, and locals from the surrounding community. The new building includes a fitness room, tenant lounge, and laundry room.

The partnership has also brought improvements to the Astoria Houses, including upgrades to the heating plant and public spaces and the development of the first full-service supermarket on the peninsula. The building rent ranges from $665/month for studios to $1,601/month for two bedrooms.
