The Texas Research & Technology Foundation (TRTF) and TransPecos Bank are moving into the former Merchants Ice & Cold Storage building in San Antonio. TRTF will use the 100-year-old digs as its corporate headquarters. TransPecos will take most of the space once the building after a multi-million reconditioning is completed later this year.

The East Houston Street structure spans four floors and 63,000 square feet. Other tenants in the building will be Kennedy Sutherland, TransPecos Developer, KSD Capital, Kohn & Associates and others. Merchants Ice is the largest of seven buildings on the VelocityTX campus. VelocityTX helps early-stage bioscience companies launch innovative breakthroughs.

Once work on the Merchants Ice structure is complete, five of the seven structures on the property will be fully operational. The full campus is expected to house some 300 employees.
