  • Austin-based real estate firms Endeavor Real Estate Group Ltd.(Endeavor) and JMI Realty Inc. (JMIR) announced that Endeavor has acquired JMIR’s hospitality development team. As a result of the transaction, Endeavor is formally creating a hotel acquisition, development and construction management platform based in Austin, Texas. JMIR will continue to focus on acquiring existing hotels and operating its existing portfolio, including serving as an owner, investor and asset manager of hotels. 
  • As part of this transaction, Endeavor has hired JMIR president Gregory W. Clay as Managing Principal, Hospitality Acquisitions & Development; JMIR Senior VP of Construction Jim Chatfield, who will become Endeavor’s Principal, Director of Construction—hospitality; and JMIR Associate Project Manager and FF&E Coordinator Megan Kaforey, who will serve in the same role with Endeavor.
  • Northmarq’s Debt + Equity platform arranged the $15.2 million refinance of The Harrison Grant Apartments in Balcones Heights, Texas. The 327-unit multifamily community was built in 1974 and renovated in 2021. Northmarq was able to provide a non-recourse, 10-year fixed-rate loan, with 120 months of interest only.
  • The old Sears space at Frisco’s Stonebriar Centre will transform into a Dick’s House of Sport. Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. acquired the empty former department store near the end of 2024. Dick’s expects to open 15 locations of House of Sport in 2025, with plans to have around 75 to 100 locations opened by 2027. The concept brings game-like competitive experiences into the store., including large indoor climbing walls, golf fitting bays complete with simulation booths and batting cages and play areas for sports such as softball, baseball, lacrosse and soccer.
  • Texas Children’s Hospital and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have agreed to a new joint venture to “end childhood cancer.” The partnership includes a joint pediatric oncology program. Over 200 Texas Children’s Hospital oncologists and over 100 MD Anderson pediatric clinicians will be part of the care team. Care will start in early 2026. Facility plans have not been released.
