Texas Innovation Corridor Site for New High-Tech Auto Plant
Continental Automotive Systems has nearly completed building a new 215,000 square foot manufacturing facility in New Braunfels. The facility will make Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Operations are expected to start in September.
The $110 million project is expected to create 130 jobs for the town. Once the plant opens, workers will produce radar sensors, which are needed for many automobile safety functions, such as blind spot detection and forward collision warning.
Continental also has a 300,000 square foot manufacturing location in Sequin. By the time the new plant opens in New Braunfels, the company will have 580 employees in the State of Texas. All told, the German company has over 19,000 employees at various plants throughout the United States.
