Texas – A Great Place to Retire?
Those who live in the Lone Star State like to call it a slice of heaven. Now WalletHub agrees, at least, when it comes to retirees. The website ranked Texas among the top 20 states to retire. Texas joins the likes of Florida (which came in on top), Wyoming, South Dakota, and Iowa in a new report.
WalletHub based its rankings on quality of life, affordability and quality of health care. While Texas scored fairly low on life and healthcare quality, it ended up with high marks when it came to affordability, especially when it comes to housing costs.
Speaking of which, John Burns Real Estate Consulting and the Urban Land Institute are emphasizing the increasing importance of older home buyers. The ULI, for example, named the 65-and-up demographic as one of the “four biggest demographic opportunities” in housing.
