Tesla Supplier to Set Up Shop in Waco
Metal Finishing Solutions has broken ground on a 110,000-square-foot facility on 12 acres at Robinson Business Park. For the last few years, the city of Robinson has been working with the Waco Industrial Foundation and other county officials to turn the Robinson business park into industrial and commercial lots.
MFS currently supplies Tesla Inc. and plans to eventually employ nearly 200 people at the site. Their process uses an electrophoretic painting process that involves using an electrical current to deposit paint on surfaces.
The company has hired Mitchell Construction to complete the project and is investing about $20 million, including equipment costs, and should begin producing specially coated auto parts by August.
This announcement comes on the heels of Walmart announcing last month plans to build and operate a milk processing plant in Robinson. The $350 million facility will employ about 400 and support 750 stores and Sam’s Clubs in the southern region.
