Tesla Showroom to Take Over Shuttered Woodlands Grocery Store

A one-time Randall’s grocery store in The Woodlands will be converted into a Tesla showroom. It’ll take the company $3.5 million to renovate the 63,000-square-foot building into a facility that will become a Tesla sales, service and delivery location. Brixmore Property Group is helming the project.

Texas law puts a premium on independent car dealers and has laws against a carmaker opening a dealership strictly to sell its own brand. So while Tesla opens showrooms in Texas, you can only test-drive a car. You have to actually buy it online and have it delivered to the showroom for pickup.

Tesla owners would have access to standard servicing and repair of their electric vehicles, including software updates, tire replacement, tire balancing, replacement of bolt-on parts (e.g. window regulators, door handles, suspension components, bumpers), etc.
