The Tempe City Council okayed Dorsey Station, a 400-unit development that is 90% affordable, as well as a site for a future shopping center. Urban Development Partners and Palindrome are codeveloping the property after being selected by the town to move forward with the project. The town bought the property in 2021 for $10.7 million.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports that Dorsey Station will occupy several acres at 1320 E. Apache Blvd. and 1412 S. Dorsey Lane, replacing the Pollack Apache Center.  Food City previously operated out of the shopping mall, but it shut down in 2021, leaving the community without access to a nearby grocery store.

Of the 400 units planned at Dorsey Station, 360 will be reserved for residents earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income.
