Technology: The Potential Key to Employee Engagement
Technology isn’t new in the workplace—from telephones to artificial intelligence, such tools have helped increase productivity. A new report from CBRE, “Top 10 Technologies Needed for an Engaging Workplace Experience,” notes that when utilized effectively, technology investments can positively impact employee engagement.
As a result, “70% of corporate real estate leaders are using their technology strategy to identify the top 10 workplace technology trends,” the report’s authors said.
Some of those trends (and suggested implementation) include the following.
High-Resolution Displays to Improve Collaboration
With the increase of hybrid and remote work, “organizations need displays that deliver both detail and scale,” according to the report. Ultra-wide and high-resolution 8K Micro-LED walls enable teams to view participants and content in real-time.
Recommendation: Add more displays that support dual-screen setups or consider shifting to a 21.9 ultrawide format.
Curation Experiences for Positive Outcomes
The days of office space with desks are dwindling. Instead, the spaces “are evolving into destinations designed with hospitality at their core,” featuring concierge apps, in-house catering and lounges. The report added that holistic user experiences are also in-person talent magnets.
Recommendation: The report suggested that leaders create intentional spaces that “prioritize digital and analog interaction to immersive entry areas that inspire and connect.”
Data as a Foundation for Actions
The report said that “ubiquitous available data” provides insights that discuss everything from organizational impacts and real estate performance to user experience. “Workplaces that harness intelligence are better equipped to align space, performance and business goals,” the authors added.
Recommendation: Occupancy and space utilization data can help support operational decisions. Additionally, data streams can be combined with help from smart building platforms and network architectures, providing overall business outcome insights.
