TATTER Textile Library Signs 20-Year Retail Lease in Fort Greene

The Tatter Blue Archives Institute (TATTER) has signed a 20-year ground-floor retail lease agreement with Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) for a flagship location at 230 Ashland Place in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood.

Starting in September 2024, TATTER’s multifaceted textile arts space will feature a café, library, gallery, and retail experience. The institute aims to celebrate culture, foster understanding, and bring people together through educational programming and community events.

“It is an honor to be included in BAM’s embrace,” said TATTER’s founder Jordana Munk Martin. “Our presence at 230 Ashland in Brooklyn’s Cultural District places textiles on a center stage, where they can do their work to inspire, express human identity, connect, and celebrate culture.”

Jeffrey Lopez of Lee & Associates NYC represented both parties in the transaction.
