Tapestry Development Group, Good Places Weave Affordable Housing into Ion College Park

Tapestry Development Group and Good Places have broken ground on Diamond College Park, a 60-unit affordable housing project in College Park, GA. The property is being developed on land formerly owned by College Park First United Methodist as part of its strategic plan to activate surplus land around the church for community development.

Construction firm Swinerton is building the facility on behalf of Tapestry Development Group, a Decatur-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of quality, affordable rental housing, and Good Places, an Atlanta-based developer of affordable, multi-function live and work spaces.

The four-story Diamond College Park will offer one- and two-bedroom homes available at below market rate. The property is funded through Low Income Housing Tax Credits with RBC Capital as investor and Chase Bank as the lender.

Diamond College Park is one component of Ion College Park, a public-private partnership between The City of College Park and the First United Methodist Church to be built on approximately one acre of the church’s land at 3726 E Main Street, adjacent to the College Point MARTA station. Plans also include 1,200 square feet of ground-level retail, an outdoor community garden and additional residential units.

About Lisa McDuffie

Lisa McDuffie arrives at ConnectCRE via REALTOR® world, where she served for nearly two decades as communications director for one of the nation’s largest REALTOR® organizations. She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group. When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
