Taiwanese Electronics Maker Commits to $35M Georgetown Factory

Pegatron, a Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer specializing in artificial intelligence computing services for clients such as Dell Technologies, Tesla, and Apple, is building a factory in Georgetown. The Austin Business Journal reports that Pegatron has been maneuvering to expand its manufacturing footprint in the United States amid the Trump administration’s import tariffs.

The company acquired a roughly 169,000-square-foot building in the Blue Springs Business Park at 610 Blue Springs Blvd. in Georgetown. The 600,000-square-foot Blue Springs Business Park is owned by Molto Properties

Pegatron does design, manufacturing, research, development and more. Its products include notebooks, desktop personal computers, motherboards, video graphics arrays, cable modems, set-top boxes, smartphones, game consoles, tablet personal computers, automotive electronics and smart home devices.

Construction is expected to start before Dec. 31.

A number of Taiwanese companies have begun operations in Texas recently, including Foxconn Technology Group in Houston, and Wistron Corp. in Dallas. Inventec Corp. has also said it’s building a facility in Texas.
