Susan Ina Dance Academy Doubles Md. Footprint

Susan Ina Academy of Performing Arts is expanding with a new 5,711-square-foot lease at 801 Barkwood Court in Linthicum, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Co-owners Shawntee Hubbard and Alex Smith are relocating the studio to accommodate student growth and diversify programming.

The studio will move from its current location at 4991 Fairview Avenue this fall. Smith, a long-time student turned teacher, and Hubbard, who taught at the studio, acquired the business in mid-2022 and renamed it. Lee & Associates’ Kate Jordan, Marley Welsh, and Samantha Eckels represented the landlord, while the tenant was self-represented.

Susan Ina Academy offers classes for ages 2 to adult, including hip-hop, ballet, and jazz, and organizes performances and fundraising events. “The dance studio joins our existing tenants which include construction management and energy services companies, which all specified the building based on its open space layout, loading docks and strategic location near major highways and a population center,” said Jordan.
