Relocation and Labor Go Hand-In-Hand
Area Development Magazine’s 30th Annual Survey of Corporate Executives said respondents exhibited cautious optimism when it came to expanding and/or relocating their facilities. Nearly half of those surveyed believed that the U.S. economy is on a continuous growth track.
Almost all who responded (92.9%) indicated their number-one priority when it comes to relocation is skilled labor availability. Finding workers with the necessary skills to get the job done is more important than increasing wages.
Additionally, 49% indicated they will open new facilities within the next five years. Of those, 87% said the facilities will be in the United States. More than half of the U.S. facilities – 17% – will be in a southern region.
