Multifamily owner and operator Sunstone Properties Trust and single-family build-to-rent developer and operator Two Tree Capital have restructured their companies to become Sunstone Two Tree, LLC. The firms, both based in Westlake Village, CA, will become a vertically integrated real estate operator and developer with a portfolio of rental housing communities across the U.S.

“The combination of high home prices, rising interest rates and changes in lifestyle preferences has created a significant demand for rental housing,” said John Maddux, Sunstone CEO. “Together, Sunstone Two Tree will be able to accelerate growth as we move into an attractive time to be deploying capital in all aspects of the rental housing business.”

The new combined entity will focus on acquiring, renovating and developing multifamily and single-family rental housing in high-growth markets. The new leadership team will consist of John Maddux, CEO; Scott Maddux (pictured), President; Tanner Maddux, CIO; Elizabeth Fujino, COO; and Michael Votta, SVP of Capital Markets.
