Sunflower Development Plans 300-Unit MF in Kansas
Kansas City-based Sunflower Development Group is planning a residential project with hundreds of apartments and townhomes in Lenexa, Kansas. After winning support from the city planning commission, the company filed plans asking the Lenexa City Council to rezone the property from an agricultural district to intermediate and high-density residential districts for a new development called The Residences on Woodsonia, reported the Kansas City Business Journal.
Plans include 240 new apartments across ten three-story buildings on roughly 16 acres. The complex would include a pool, clubhouse, sports courts and a community space. Additionally, Sunflower would build 62 townhomes in 11 four- and six-plex buildings.
The developer is working with architect Rosemann & Associates and Overland Park-based MKEC Engineering Inc. The council is scheduled to review Sunflower’s preliminary site plan and rezoning request this month. If approved, construction on the project would begin on the apartments in late 2024 and the townhomes in 2025.
