Sugar Land Airport wrapping up $40M improvement

Sugar Land Airport Capping Off $40M in Improvements

Sugar Land is basically the last southern suburb of Houston. To the towns south is a lot of open space, and more often than not folks want to use The Sugar Land Regional Airport to get to where they need to go. The town has 120,000 residents and they needed to expand.

Construction will be completed this spring on the airport’s new community hangar, and construction began in December on the final phase of the new parallel taxiway. The taxiway and hangar project costs $40.9 million.

Work on the hangar portion of the project began in January 2021.

The parallel taxiway project, which has been in the works for more than 10 years, was split into four phases. Construction on the fourth and final phase will wrap up in spring 2024. In the meantime, the airport is surrounded by another 18 acres and the town is waiting for survey results before planning begins that acreage.
