Suffolk Downs Project in Revere Adds More Lab Space

HYM Investment Group, the developer behind the 161-acre Suffolk Downs mixed-use project in Revere is reportedly pivoting two blocks of the complex to life sciences instead of a planned residential building.

According to various media reports, the developer told the Revere City Council last week that it plans to build a five-story building with space for lab research and biomanufacturing in lieu of the planned residential buildings. The move is reportedly a bid to capture the hot market for spaces where pharmaceutical companies can design new drugs.

The scrapped residential buildings may be added back in later phases of the project, which will ultimately consist of 5 million square feet of office space as well as 10,000 residential units. The project is slated for completion sometime in 2023.
