Long Beach is California Dreaming as Angels Remain at Anaheim Stadium
The decision of Angels owner Arte Moreno to keep the team at its Anaheim Stadium home had longtime fans in Orange County ecstatic. That decision is set to be followed by a substantial commercial real estate development vision for the 150 acres of surrounding parking lots and adjacent stadium land that is set for the Anaheim City Council to transfer for the creation of a mixed use master plan.
That left Long Beach, a viable secondary option for relocating the team, with a next-step conundrum for developing a significant block of under-utilized oceanfront land. What comes next is the question Long Beach civic leaders will be asking: more housing, office and port-serving infrastructure, or maybe even an expansion of permanent infrastructure for the Long Beach Grand Prix? According to the Long Beach Business Journal, city leaders are still “California dreaming” and that’s a good start.
