Sterling Bay Plans Apartments, Offices on Site of Former ADM Mill
After demolishing a 19th-century flour mill on the western edge of the Fulton Market District, Sterling Bay plans to redevelop the site with nearly 1,000 apartments and office space, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. The developer will file a zoning application Wednesday with the City Council.
Crain’s reported that Sterling Bay intends to build a pair of mixed-use buildings on the site of the former Archer Daniels Midland mill at 1300 W. Carroll Ave. The developer struck a deal for the site more than three years ago and closed on it last year.
On the site’s eastern portion, Sterling Bay seeks approval for a 38-story building with 338 apartments, 460 parking spaces and more than 200,000 square feet of offices. Plans for a second phase along the western portion are “subject to future site plan approval” but slated to include a tower nearly 100 feet taller than the first one.
